EDF Norte Fluminense is considered a showcase of the EDF Group in terms of industrial and financial performance, accounting for 25% of the energy consumed in the metropolitan region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, supplying to 2.5 million people.
Located in the municipality of Macaé, the Plant is a combined cycle thermal power station (CCPS) with an installed capacity of 827 MW, which uses the natural gas produced in the Campos Basin as fuel and operates with three gas turbines and one steam turbine.
In addition to the best economic performance, the production system is environmentally efficient: natural gas is worked in the most efficient manner possible, avoiding steps such as the elimination of gases in the atmosphere at high temperatures (400° C).
The headquarters of EDF Norte Fluminense is located in the metropolitan region, downtown Rio de Janeiro. In the office, teams from several areas work in strategic support in direct synergy with the Plant in Macaé. Moreover, they also analyze new businesses and opportunities for energy generation in the country.
